Finished UNIFICATION
The title is a play on words and ironic. I enjoyed the book.
I am now reading The Last Ship by William Brinkley. It was made into a TV series which TR and I watched. It is to return soon. I was worried that the book would be so much like the series that I'd be bored. Nope. It starts very differently, is narrated in the first person by the captain, and is very well written. Quite enjoyable.

Finished PEOPLE OF THE OWL
Politics and spiritualism in a large community in what is now northern Louisiana by the Mississippi. Loved this "underdog" story of triumph in a most unusual way.
Now I move from 4000 years ago to what audiences twenty or so years ago would have considered 200 years into the future: a Star Trek novel, Unification, by Jeri Taylor (based on a Next Gen script). Ambassador Spock vanished and has been photographed on Romulus, definitely not have been given permission to go there. Has he defected??? Captain Pickard's Enterprise is ordered to find out.

Poverty Point
Poverty Point is the present day location of the book I am now reading--People of the Owl. The time location is about 4000 years ago. I am really getting into the politics of the story--it is a smart underdog type theme which I always am drawn to.
I finally found some pictures of the site as it exists today. This shows its location and layout.

I am seriously enjoying this book. Of course, I have loved all the books by these authors that I have read.
