Finished THE NIGHT IS WATCHING by Heather Graham
Though the ghosts in this story terrified most of the townspeople, our heroines and heroes find them quite helpful. A gold shipment disappeared a hundred years ago, and it looks like some people in town think they can find it and are willing to kill to do so. Luckily, the ghosts remember what happened 100 years ago, and also can warn of pending danger now. Because I believe in helpful or at least friendly ghosts since living in a haunted house, I enjoy this series immensely.
I have now started The Tumbling Turner Sisters by Juliette Fay, the story of a vaudeville act in the early 1920's. This is a novel told in the first person by two of the sisters. Being the oldest child in a large family and having a show business bent, I already love the story. At the beginning, we learn what vaudeville was and why this family needs to find extraordinary means to survive.
