Finished REVEALED

16096873

Finished Revealed by P. C. and Kristin Cast.  It ended in a bad place, but that was to be expected considering the next book in the series is Redeemed which makes me hope it will make everything a bit better.  Again these books are very readable, both exciting and fun.

I have now started reading Edge of Eternity, the third book in the Century Trilogy by Ken Follett.  It has already started exciting with people related (children and grandchildren) to favorite characters from the first two books.  I am already worried about and pulling for these characters, made more intense since the events in this book I have lived through.  It starts in 1961, when I was 16, quite old enough to remember.  Knowing what is going to happen increases the tension as I hope these characters will survive intact and also knowing Follett is not reluctant to kill off characters.  This is a long book, so don't expect an update too soon.

Finished The Garner Files

12679124

He always seemed so easy-going on stage, I was surprised to learn he was quick to anger (especially when playing golf or when someone was being bullied.)  He dealt with bullying while young from his step-mother.  His discussion of his early life was surprising and well narrated.  I loved his straight forward honesty about how he felt about fellow actors and directors, and especially, the studios.  At the end there is a tv and filmography.  He made a lot more movies than I was aware of.  I immediately set up the tv to scan for anything with his name in the info.  I have already got three movies and several episodes of Maverick (which I watched religiously as a kid, but I am sure I don't remember...)  Filled with lots of wonderful, well told stories.

I am now reading Revealed by P.C.Cast and Kristin Cast.  Neferet is back and threatening.  Toward the beginning, one of the group dies and the friends must deal with that, another death, housing the red vampyres, and fending off Neferet.  There is never a dearth of problems in these books.

Finished THE EVIL INSIDE

Another Heather Graham Krewe of Hunters novel bites the dust.  I really enjoy these books--ghost mysteries in which the ghosts are usually helpful and humans are the murderers.  This one was especially fun because it was set in Salem, Mass., and used many of the places I have visited as locations.

Have now started James Garner's autobiography.  Already surprised by his childhood and military service.  So far, a very self-deprecating and generous writer.  Very readable.

Finished Three Books While on Vacation

115605

The first was People of the Moon which used archaeological evidence to fabric a story about why the Anasazi may have left Chaco Canyon.  It was a great story, well crafted and most enjoyable.

The second book was Golden Girl by Henry Melton.  I met the author at All-Con in Dallas, a multi-aspect fan convention.  He is writing sci-fi for teenagers and I especially loved seeing several female heroines.  But little did I expect this time travel novel to be so interesting (and even complicated) scientifically.  Some new problems/ aspects to time travel were introduced that I'd never seen before.  Kudos.  I will read more of your books, Mr. Melton!

The third book I read is The Valley of Amazement by Amy Tan.  This was the first Amy Tan book I read, but it will not be the last.  I love exploring time periods and cultures outside of my experience, especially when guided by such an expert tour guide.  The theme of the relationships between mothers and daughters never seems to run out of steam, either.

Then I returned to Lost Scriptures and read the section on Non-Canonical Apocalypses and Revelatory Treatises.  This section was fairly readable, and some was quite interesting.  Some was quite involved intellectually, the Gnostics often being surprising.

I have now started The Evil Inside by Heather Graham.  A family living in an old home in Salem, Mass. is found hacked to pieces.  Two other similarly horrendous crimes have been committed over history in the same house.  The teenage boy of the family is found covered in blood in the middle of the street and is immediately charged with the murders.  But the man who found him and the psychiatrist who has been treating him are convinced of his innocence....
