Finished THE SILENT SPIRIT

Two people have disappeared.  The first, found by Father O'Malley, we know was murdered.  The other vanished 100 years ago.  One would think that the first would be easy to solve.  One might not understand that the older would be key to solving the present.  The complicated plot was made even more complicated by Father O'Malley and Vicky Holden looking in the wrong direction, riling up the local drug dealers.  Excellent story.

I have just begun Pixie Dust, another sci-fi book by Henry Melton.  Working on an advanced physics degree with her professor, Jenny causes the vacuum created with antimatter to rise uncontrollably endangering both their lives.  Now her professor is dead and the documentation for the experiment has vanished.

Finished ON THE STREET WHERE YOU LIVE

This was a little different.  We were introduced to all the suspects and had to figure out who the murderer was in two different sets of murders 100 years apart.  Of course, I didn't.  But I did figure out some that it was not.  Very readable and fun like all of MHC's books.

I have now started The Silent Spirit, A Wind River Mystery.  Actually this is the 14th book in the series.  It has started with Father O'Malley picking up a hitchhiker, Kiki Wallowingbull,  who has decided to go to Hollywood.  After taking him out to breakfast and hearing his story (Kiki's great-grandfather went to Hollywood to act in a silent film during the 1920's.  He never returned and Kiki wants to know why.)  Father O'Malley dropped him off at the entrance to the freeway as Kiki wanted...

Finished AN EASY DEATH

Even in this historically alternative landscape, the area is real to a person who lives in Texas and has gone back and forth into Mexico.  The talents of wizards are different for each wizard which also seems relatable.  As a matter of fact, watching the news today, this dark universe seems altogether possible.  And Lisbeth, small and pretty, navigates this world authoritatively.  Yes, I enjoyed the book.

I am now reading On the Street Where You Live, by Mary Higgins Clark.  This is classic MHC with a serial killer whose head we can see into, but whose identity we don't know.  It also has a historical component--a hundred years ago, another killer was using this same pattern.  And our heroine has an ancestral relationship to one of his victims.

Finished THE LADY WITH THE GUN ASKS THE QUESTIONS

Very entertaining group of stories, all pretty short and fun.  Some were silly little mysteries--lost objects caused by their own stupidity and others did involve some danger.

I have now started An Easy Death, the first in a new series by Charlaine Harris.  The action takes place in an alternative history where our democracy has failed and our country has been chopped up into countries.  Gunnie Rose lives in the area which is now called Mexia (Mexico and Texas, Oklahoma and a part of Colorado.)  The action is great and the story has me hooked.

Finished VOYAGER

If you have been watching the TV series, this book has a lot more information that the show does.  Much more about Jamie's 20 years after Culloden including what he was doing.  Also much more about his occupation and acquaintances at the end of the 20 years.  It also covers many more adventures shipboard and in the West Indies.  Very enjoyable read.

I have now started The Lady with the Gun Asks the Questions, a collection of short stories.  I have read the first four stories and have found them most enjoyable and some are a little silly.  Perfectly OK, I like silly.

Finished WHAT'S SO FUNNY? by Tim Conway

I thoroughly enjoyed this book.  There were only a few real belly laughs here (Tim's comedy is more visual than translating to language), but there were a lot of smiles.  Tim is generous in his praise of fellow performers and writers.  One gets the impression that he is a very happy person who has enjoyed every minute of his life.

I find it difficult to say anything about a third book in a series without dealing in spoilers.  Suffice it to say, this book starts out with James and Claire separated by 200 years.  We follow both of them now after the Battle of Culloden.

Finished DREAMING DEATH

I enjoyed Dreaming Death but, for some reason, not as much as the others in the series.  Just didn't think the heroine to be as likable as I wanted...  Not sure why...  could be in me.

I have now started What's So Funny?  My Hilarious Life, by Tim Conway.  He has introduced us to his parents who were marvelously odd.  Lots of stories of his childhood that gave him rich material to build on.

For some reason I can't get pictures copied from Goodreads to post any more.  I tried taking a picture with my phone and emailing it to me so I could copy it to here from my email, but it won't email???  Any suggestions?  Anyone?
